Agriculture is one of the main drivers of water scarcity and water quality degradation. This study develops an agroeconomic model in two arid areas (Dal & iacute;as in Spain and Azraq in Jordan), assessing how agricultural activity responds to different scenarios related to water availability and quality. Three scenarios have been considered: Steady decrease in available water, water pricing, and decrease in water quality. The results show that the model is a suitable tool for assessing the impacts of water policies. Thus, alternative water sources may be a viable option in Dal & iacute;as. However, effective water pricing policies become more appropriate in Azraq.
