It is well recognized that saline water with a high dissolved solid is unsuitable for grass and agriculture. Sensor technology enhances the investigations and measurements by capturing and storing real-time data in data loggers. Recycling water is introduced using clay sand liner barrier system. This idea is a novel method to reduce irrigation water consumption in deserts and semi-arid areas using a unique experimental setup and real time monitoring approach. A section including a bentonite sand barrier was installed in a trial experiment and monitored over 9 months for repeated watering and inspection of water chemistry. When water is introduced to the clay liners, some salts dissolve into the water, and ion exchange reactions occur by which the water chemistry is changed. Measurements and records were observed using 5TE sensors and stored in Em50 data loggers. Concentrations of 0.1, 0.5, and 1.5 M sodium chloride water were added to the irrigation water to observe the influence of salt on the clayey barrier. The impact on compressibility was investigated. The overall salinity of the collected water from the subsurface soil is reduced by frequent watering from 3220 ppm to 2590 ppm (20%). Reuse of water for multiple cycles can be enhanced.
