The Bundelkhand region is one of the vast geographical region in India, sparsely populated in modern times because of many socio-economic factors including its arid and semi-arid environmental setup, challenging terrain and limited water resources. However, the current field survey covered a large number of prehistoric sites in this region, suggesting dense colonization of this region during microlithic period. Our current research is focused on analyzing the techno-behavioural aspects of the microlithic community that once inhabited at the Semardaha site of Bundelkhand region, India. A detailed analysis using a series of metrical and non-metrical statistical tests is applied here on 3564 artefacts to understand better metrical standardization, morphological characteristics and technological strategy employed in producing these tools. Our statistical analysis includes only intact artefacts which provides insight into the metrical requirements and the operational sequences and reduction strategy of the microlithic in habitants of the SMD site.
