Argentine Patagonia is a vast region that harbors diverse environments, with limited knowledge about its arthropod fauna. Mantids are predatory insects that can serve as natural enemies of pests and play an important ecological role. In this note we report for the first time the species Coptopteryx argentina Burmeister and Brunneria subaptera Saussure (Mantodea: Coptopterygidae) for the Chubut Province. Both were observed in the Lower Chubut River Valley (VIRCh), an irrigated agroecosystem located in an arid environment. The data provided here greatly expand the known distribution of both species (between 500 and 800 km to the south), which are now the southernmost records. On the other hand, they add two new species to the Chubut Province, significantly expanding the existing information on mantids present in this territory. This note contributes to the local knowledge of the beneficial entomofauna of the VIRCh and contributes to other disciplines, such as the study of conservative biological control at the regional level.
