This study aimed to map the resting eggs' distribution in seasonal pools of a semiarid region to understand the temporal dynamics and mechanisms of zooplankton communities that vanish and reappear annually. We tested the following hypotheses: (H1) Abundance is greater in deeper sections; (H2) alpha-diversity is greater in deeper sections; (H3) Abundance of some species is patchy and related to upper sections; and (H4) beta-diversity is higher in upper parts of the egg bank. Sediments were sampled from three man-made pools, covering central, transition, and edge zones to assess radial and circumferential perspectives. Laboratory hatching experiments tracked species abundance over 6 days and richness over 2 months. Most taxa showed higher densities in central portions, except Cladocera, which did not follow this pattern. Species richness was also greater in the center, but no variation in beta-diversity was observed. Calanoid copepods and the bdelloid rotifer Rotaria rotatoria were linked to central zones, while Cephalodella forficula was more common at the edges. These pools exhibited a diverse egg bank, with high species richness and abundance concentrated in the deepest parts. While species distribution was generally homogeneous, some taxa showed region-specific associations, offering insights into zooplankton egg bank spatial dynamics in semiarid pools.
