The aim of this work is to propose suitable solution on water supply in arid regions oasis and the valuation of palm leaf waste and clays. The palm leaves waste can serve as a filtering medium that can be used, after treatment by infiltration-percolation, as a composting product for organic amendment in arid oasis. Laboratory filtration trials were carried out to treat secondary wastewater (filter disc process) from El Hamma City treatment plant. Three PVC columns (C-1, C-2, and C-3), 1.3 m in length and 200 mm in diameter, were used to ensure water percolation by using different mixture filtration. The thickness of the filtration mixture is 60 cm for the first column (C1), 90 cm for the second column (C2) and 120 cm for the third column (C3). The evaluation of purifying performances was carried out by three tests; the filtering medium of the first test is composed by palm leaves waste in three columns, the second test, the same filtering medium contains 10 % of montmorillonite clay and the third test the filter mass contains 20 % of clay. The studied parameters were pH, chemical oxygen demand (COD), biological oxygen demand (BOD), nitrogen elements, PO43-, suspended solids, and the fecal pollution indicators. Data obtained from wastewater quality analyzes demonstrated that the addition of Aidoudi clays in the filtration mixture improves the tertiary treatment through columns. The removal rate in tertiary treatment for nitrogen parameters reached 84 % and 95 % by the addition of 20 % of clays.
