Analysing the temperature rise and heat wave propagation in India under climate change scenarios

The alteration of weather patterns due to global warming has resulted in an unprecedented impact on the environment. This study analyses increasing temperature and heat wave frequency in India under two representative concentration pathways (RCP) scenarios. By the end of the 21st century, RCP 4.5 and 8.5 anticipate a significant rise in mean temperature of 6.0 degrees C and 9.0 degrees C in the western Himalayas, 5.0 degrees C and 7.5 degrees C in eastern India, and 4.0 degrees C and 7.0 degrees C in the Thar Desert's south-eastern region. The study highlights the importance of policy intervention in climate change mitigation by outlining its diverse impacts.
