Sorghum (Sorghum bicolor (L.) Moench), a cereal of economic importance, ensures food and fodder security for millions of rural families in the semiarid tropics. This study aimed to detect and map quantitative trait loci (QTL) for yield and yield component traits using replicated phenotypic data sets from the main season and off-season. A mapping population with 139 F8 recombinant inbreed lines derived from Sorcoll 163/07 x Gambella was used. The high-density linkage map was created using GBS, and genotype data were analysed using ICi-Mapping software. The map contained 1082 high-quality single nucleotide polymorphism markers distributed on 10 chromosomes, with an average marker distance of 1.83 cm. The degree of association between markers varied from 86.8 to 95.8%, with an average value of 91.34%. The mapping and tagging of QTL for yield and yield components were conducted using ICi-Mapping software v. 41. The results showed most QTL were the same, except for one QTL for panicle length, two QTL for 1000 seed weight, and one QTL for panicle diameter. Few QTL were different between the two seasons, suggesting that gene expression differs under different conditions. The additive QTL under two different seasons suggests the need to investigate drought tolerance in sorghum from a genetic standpoint.
