Studies on reproductive traits of widely distributed bird species can contribute to understand the adaptations in different environment conditions and bring insights on life history evolution. This research describes reproductive period, nest and egg description, clutch size, incubation, and nestling period of Dark-billed Cuckoo (Coccyzus melacoryphus) in the Caatinga Seasonally Dry Topical Forests of northeastern Brazil. We conducted this study during the breeding seasons of 2017 and 2018. We found 31 nests between March and May 2017, and 32 between February and June 2018. Nests were built on shrubs and trees with 1.61 +/- 0.88 m average height, and the Aspidosperma pyrifolium was the main plant used as support. The nests showed a simple platform shape, with external twigs larger in length and diameter than the inner ones. The light green eggs were short sub-elliptical, weighting 9.7 +/- 0.9 g, and measuring 28.4 +/- 1.5 mm x 22.1 +/- 1.5 mm. Clutch size varied from one to six eggs and nestling number per nest was 2.60 +/- 0.96 (n = 32). Dark-billed Cuckoo behaves like other members of the genus, presenting a longer reproductive period when compared to birds of temperate regions, with short incubation and nestling periods.
