Evidence on the impacts of many teacher policies remains insufficient and scattered, and the impact of many reforms depends on specific design features. In addition, teacher policies can have very different impacts, depending on the context and other education policies already in place. Systems approach for better education results (SABER) - teachers is a tool that aims to help fill the gap by collecting, analyzing, synthesizing, and disseminating comprehensive information on teacher policies in primary and secondary education systems around the world. To offer informed policy guidance, SABER-teachers analyzes the information collected to assess the extent to which the teacher policies of an education system are aligned with policies shown by research evidence to have a positive effect on student achievement. SABER-teachers collects data on ten core teacher policy areas to offer a comprehensive, descriptive overview of the teacher policies in place in each participating education system. The eight teacher policy goals are functions that all high-performing education systems fulfill to a certain extent to ensure that every classroom has a motivated, supported, and competent teacher. This report presents the results of the SABER-Teachers tool as applied in Brazil. The report describes the performance of Brazil’s education system in achieving each of the eight teacher policy goals. It also contains comparative information from education systems that have consistently scored highly on international student achievement tests and those that have previously participated in the SABER-Teachers initiative.

Air quality policies in Honduras

The Project 'Strengthening the Implementation of Access to Genetic Resources and Benefit-sharing Regimes in Latin America and the Caribbean' was a Global Environment Facility (GEF) medium-sized project designed in 2010 and implemented between July 2011 and June 2014. Its objective was to support national and regional processes to develop and/or comply with national policy and legal frameworks regarding Access and Benefit Sharing and traditional knowledge in the framework of the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) and focused on eight Latin America and Caribbean countries (Colombia, Costa Rica, Cuba, Ecuador, Guyana, Panamá, Peru and Dominican Republic). The evaluation of the Project was conducted as part of a portfolio evaluation of five related projects implemented by UNEP and funded by the GEF. The evaluation had two primary objectives: i) to provide evidence of results to meet accountability requirements, and ii) to promote learning, feedback and knowledge sharing through results and lessons learned among UNEP, the GEF and IUCN-Sur as the project executing partner.

Air quality policies in Paraguay

Better matching of land use with its sustainable potential is a “no-regrets” strategy for sustainably increasing agricultural production on existing land, targeting restoration efforts to where they are likely to be most successful, and guiding biodiversity conservation initiatives. Land potential is defined as the inherent, long-term potential of the land to sustainably generate ecosystem services. This report provides an introduction to land potential evaluation systems, strategies and tools necessary to implement this strategy. It provides information that both private landowners and policymakers can use to increase long-term productivity and profitability, while at the same time addressing global objectives defined through land-related Sustainable Development Goals, and particularly 15.3 (land degradation neutrality).
