Fenix Resources has commenced mining at its new Beebyn-W11 iron ore mine, kicking off its third operation in the Mid-West region of Western Australia.
MACA was awarded the mining contract for Beebyn-W11 in February, which includes drill and blast, mining, and crushing and screening operations.
Mining equipment and crushing equipment mobilisation took place during the June 2025 quarter, and construction works at Beebyn-W11 commenced in March.
Since then, infrastructure pad construction at the mine site has been completed and pit area and waste dump areas have been cleared and prepared, paving the way for mining to now commence.
Beebyn-W11 has a planned production rate of 1.5 million tonnes per annum (Mtpa), which is expected to help Fenix achieve its 2025 production run rate of 4Mtpa. Fenix is targeting first ore on ship during the September 2025 quarter.
With mining at Beebyn-W11 underway, the commissioning of crushing and screening processing plant infrastructure will be completed during July.
The construction of a 17.6km private haul road connecting Beebyn-W11 to the Iron Ridge iron ore mine is also nearing completion, enabling direct haulage from Beebyn-W11 to Fenix’s Geraldton Port facilities using its fully integrated Newhaul transport logistics solutions.
Fenix is also expanding its accommodation village in the Weld Range, with the first rooms commissioned in June and completion expected in early August. The village will provide a central facility to support the workforce for both Iron Ridge and BeebynW11.
Fenix will commence haulage at Beebyn-W11 once product stockpiles are available, facilitating iron ore products from Beebyn-W11 to be shipped during the September 2025 quarter as mining ramps up.
